Happy Birthday Gina

The promise was to make a cake that wasn't too girly.  A promise to design a cake that was a little less ball gown and a little more tuxedo; something befitting a sophisticated young adult entering her last teen year.  I think we did it with this little number we agreed to call "black rain".  It's carrot cake filled with cream cheese buttercream, a band of textured fondant does for the sides and the top is more cream cheese buttercream with a hint of white chocolate and gumpaste fantasy flowers.  The whole is accented with splashes of black and black candy pearls:

A superbly moist and delicious carrot cake with a cream cheese whipped buttercream inside and out to celebrate five marvellous years.  They say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach . . .
